I am back to posting flowers, and for this week, it's the euphorbia. About a year or so ago, the euphorbia craze hit the whole nation, and in every house, you will see at least one euphorbia plant in their house. My aunt was one of those hit by the "bug," and in her garden, she has had lots of different kinds - some have big flowers, the others (like this one) have small flowers. She has lots of different colors, too!
When I last went to La Union, I noticed that she has had fewer euphorbia plants, and brother said aunt Julie didn't bother getting more plants after knowing that the sap of this plant can cause cancer when it enters the bloodstream. Nothing was really sure, but in one of the seminars brother attended for Gawad Kalinga (the local version of Habitat for Humanity) where he is one of the volunteers, he heard from one of the speakers about such thing. Well, this plant has thorns, and of course, it doesn't really poses a threat, as long as people knew how to handle the plant. Has anyone heard of this detail?

What a beautiful euphorbia! The ones that grow here in Ontario tend to have yellow bracts, not red like the one in your photo.
