Road to Exile

photo hunt

Fort Santiago

This road (more like a path actually) is the one the Philippines' national hero Jose P. Rizal took going to Luneta Park where he was exiled in December 30, 1896 at a tender age of 35. His way of fighting the Spaniards who took over the country for 300 years time has been through his novels, "Noli Me Tangere" and "El Filibusterismo."

This picture was taken in August this year when my brother and I met with some of the members of Litratong Pinoy, a Philippine-based photo meme. I had taken different shots of the "footprints," but I decided to share this one because I liked how this group of young men re-traced Rizal's steps. This is the Fort Santiago, where the national hero was held captive before his exile.

Oooh, a historical roadway - very nice!! I love the footprints, they're very symbolic.
