From Rhona

Note

I don't know if I have mentioned it already in this blog, but I joined Singles for Christ - a Catholic community - and I am currently doing the Christian Life Program, and in one month's time I will be part of the community. Part of the program is have groupings, and each participant is required to have one on one sessions with the group leader. My leader is Rhona, an elementary school teacher. She's younger than me, but I didn't really have a hard time talking to her because she has a very jolly personality, and is very nice, kind, and sweet.

A week after our first one on one session, she gave me this little present. She apologized for the "Happy Birthday" gift wrapper, but really, it's not much of a big deal..the important thing is the thought in the present. Just a little gift from a leader to its member. Inside this is a notepad.

Thanks a lot, Rhona! May God bless us all.

Jenn the Super Hero

Today's a little laid back day for the Shutter Happy me, so I just played and took this Super Hero Quiz. It was a very pleasurable quiz to take, I really had fun answering the questions. If you're familiar with the quizzes spreading in the Blogosphere, it's basically like that, too, but I loved the cartoon background making me anticipate which Super Hero I would be.

Questions ranged from what super powers would I be, where would my hideaway be, and how would I stop my villain. The choices are really cool, and in some questions, I had a hard time choosing for my answer! It was composed of 10 questions, and here is the result:

Quiz brought to you by Buy Costumes

I am not that familiar with comics and other super hero stuffs, so I didn't know who Boba Fett is. I asked about him and found out that he's a bounty hunter in Star Wars. Because my choices pointed out to him, I am now more interested in learning more about him. I heard there's also a fan club for him and other sort of things.

How about you? Do you also want to know what kind of Super Hero are you? Why not take this Superhero Quiz as well? I tell you, it was a very nice thing to do. Maybe you'll be Superman or Batman... that would be wow! When my sister arrives home, I would ask her to take the quiz, too, and maybe we could pose like these super heroes and take pictures of ourselves. Now that's fun!

Another One From Market One

black and white

I just posted a snapshot of a flower in my other post, so I decided to post another photo of a flower I took from Market One, but this one is different in the sense that this flower is not one of those sold in the market. This was taken from the grounds of Lung Center of the Philippines, where Market One was located. I have told this before, but for the benefit of the new visitors of this blog, Market One is a Sunday Market located on the open field of the Lung Center of the Philippines, a hospital that deals with respiratory problems.

Another part of the hospital's very big lot has this (and much more) flowers. Of course, picking is not allowed, so I just took photos so I can take it home. =) This is originally in color, I just converted it to black and white. I also edited the brightness a little bit because it was too bright.

Gerber Daisies

Today's Flowers

Gerber Daisies

Another flower picture from Market One. There was a section in the market that's solely for plants, and on the corner near the main aisle were the stall of these pots of super beautiful gerber daisies. I don't know what's with this flower -- it's not my favorite, yet it always radiates some good vibes in me. It's like, when I see a gerber daisy, my overall aura just gets better. Too bad a pot of this plant cost way too expensive for my budget.

I am just hoping someone would give me flowers. =) Happy start of the week to everyone!

The Guard Cat

Fish Cages

This very cute cat is my Uncle Arthur and Aunt Mary's companion in the fish cages. Well, it has been said that cats love to brutally play with fishes, but they didn't have any problems with this cat because in the long time this cat has been there, he has gotten sick and tired of eating the fishes from the cage! He is actually sick and tired of it that even if you leave the fish in front of him, he won't touch it. =)

He looks cute, but this cat is very cranky. He doesn't like to be carried and touched. When there are visitors, he would get wild, but after a while he would calm, but still he won't let anyone touch him.

View

This week's Photo Hunt theme is "view." The topic has a very wide scope and I admit I had a hard time thinking what to post, so in the end I chose this:

photo hunt

Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte

This was the view inside the van when we passed by the very interesting bridge in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte. Taken last summer when I went on a road trip with my aunt and her high school friends. We were on our way home that time so the only way I could capture shots of the places is by looking at the wonderful view from the window and take the shots from there. It was a hard task to do, but very exciting and fun. I just have to take care of the camera, though. I can't afford to drop it! =)

Ever since I saw this place, I told myself I will be back (this is only one of the many great sights in Pagudpud) and when I get back, I will not only just check the view from the window, I will definitely spend more time and enjoy a vacation.

The Manila Cathedral

Manila Cathedral

This picture was taken 09 August 2008 when my brother and I met up with some of our co-members in Litratong Pinoy meme (they're the people in this picture). It was my second time in the area, and in my first time there I wasn't able to take a full shot of the Cathedral, so on this day, I made sure that I took a full shot of the Cathedral. The statue on the left side was the statue of the Spanish King the time the Cathedral was built (I forgot the name) and the place where I am at was the Plaza Roma.

I was happy this time because days before the get together, there was a typhoon and we were afraid that this will be canceled, but the skies cleared up a day before we all met, and on the day of the get together, the sky was favorable to us. Thanks for stopping by my Sky Watch this week. Happy weekends!

Itim at Puti (Black and White)

Lilith

I already posted this picture in my other blog, but I cannot help not to share this picture for this week because I am really fond of this kitten. When they were born, she's the smallest among the three kittens, that's why I named her Lilith (short for "Bulilit," meaning small).

{Nai-post ko na itong litratong ito sa kabila kong blog, pero 'di ko mapigil na hindi rin ito ang ilahok ko kasi tuwang-tuwa ako sa kuting naming ito. Noong ipinanganak ito, ang liit niya talaga kumpara sa kanyang dalawang kapatid, kaya Lilith ang ipinangalan ko kasi shortcut for "bulilit." Noon pa man, alalang-alala na ang aming ina sa kanya, akala noon ni nanay mamamatay siya ano mang oras kasi sobrang liit niya talaga.}

Because the kittens are very hyperactive, we decided to keep them all. We also found them very smart for when they were just a month old, they were able to give out solutions to the hurdles we've put in the room so they won't go out.

{Dahil sa angking kakulitan ng mga kuting, napagdesisyunan naming kupkupin silang lahat. Matatalino rin naman kasi ang mga kuting, isang buwan pa lang sila, alam na nila kung paano bigyang solusyon ang mga harang na nilagay namin para di sila makalabas ng kwarto kung saan sila ipinanganak.}

Maybe it's because of the Whiskas that we fed them that's why they became more hyperactive. Unfortunately, all of them got sick and one of them died, while the other one still looked sick even if he's okay now. It's only Lilith who recovered well and if she was hyperactive before, she was way more hyper after she recovered from the sickness!

{Dahil na rin siguro sa Whiskas na ipinakain namin sa kanila kung kaya naging mas lalong masigla ang kuting na ito. Sa kasamaang palad, nagkasakit silang tatlong kuting at ang isa sa kanila ay namatay, samantalang ang isa ay naging payatot at mukhang hindi na lumaki. Si Lilith lang ang talagang maayos ang pangangatawan at mas lalo pang kumulit buhat noong gumaling sa pagkakasakit.}

One of the things that she loves to play with are our slippers and shoes. Just a few days ago, she saw one of my sister's shoes and decided to play with it. I am such a nice sister that instead of taking the shoe, I got my digital camera to take pictures of her. I took a few shots, but decided to share this one because this is the cutest among the pictures.

{Isa sa gustong gusto niyang kulitin ay ang aming mga tsinelas at sapatos. Noong mga nakaraang araw, napagdiskitahan niya ang sapatos ng aming bunsong kapatid at dahil isa akong mabait na kapatid, imbes na sawayin ang kuting at ilayo ang sapatos, kinuha ko pa ang aking digital camera upang litratuhan siya. =) Marami-raming litrato ang nakuha ko noong araw na 'yon, pero ito kasi pinaka-cute kaya ito na lang ilalahok ko.}

Wow... Just Wow!

I recently took photos of our messy fridge, and I swear I would never ever do that again! The messy fridge immortalized by my camera was a bit hard for me to bear, and if not for the yummy foods inside it, I would have never posted it in my blogs.

Anyway, like I have said in that blog entry, we cleaned up the fridge after seeing the pictures. And whenever we clean up the fridge, we make sure we use that super absorbent towels, but the one we are using is about to retire now. We truly need something like ShamWow Towels because these towels are really a wonder tool to be used in cleaning. The way they absorb water is so superb, and because our fridge needs to be defrosted, all we have to do is to put the towel on stand-by and just check on it time to time to squeeze out the water.

The ShamWow towels aren't only for fridge, it can be used in just about anything that needs cleaning, and I sure hope we can get some for ourselves before our towels retire. What I like about the ShamWows the most is that it doesn't harden when dried out after cleaning and that it won't scratch surfaces, making it a good cleaning tool. When I see something like this, I will surely grab one for myself, so the next time you see a picture of our fridge, it'll be squeaky clean and no longer messy!

J = Jollibee

Bro & Jb

Jollibee Spag and Chix

If you would ask any Filipino about a Philippine Icon, for sure Jollibee would be included in the top 10. From its humble beginnings as an ice cream parlor back in 1978, it has become one of the most successful food places here in the Philippines. To date, they have 600 branches all over the Philippines (and still growing), and several branches overseas including USA, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Saipan, and Brunei.

Like most people my age, I grew up loving Jollibee. Actually, this bee is so popular, that no matter which branch you enter, you'll always see a jam-packed branch. Kids know this bee, that just seeing his face, they would surely know his name! Whenever we're there to eat, I always order their Spaghetti + Chicken meal, paired with peach-mango pie and a glass of iced tea. I don't consider their chickenjoy the best I have tasted, but it's really delicious. Their spaghetti has always been a favorite.

The first picture was taken 06 March 2008, when my siblings and I went to Vigan City, Ilocos Sur. Normally, I won't take pictures of the mascot outside the store (every store has that mascot), but when my brother posed and I could see the Vigan Cathedral behind, I went on to take the shot. The spaghetti chicken meal on the other hand was taken 26 July 2008, when the family went to this very big market to buy some seafoods. Before going home, we went to eat our very early dinner at Jollibee near the market.

From the Chapel

Chapel

The challenge for this week is to post a picture with a little red on it. Last Sunday, while hearing the mass at the chapel, I noticed the light at the tabernacle and hoped to have it photographed for this week's Ruby Tuesday. Sadly, I never had a great timing after the mass, but thankful that the light was still on when brother and I returned to the chapel for the Christian Life Program we were attending. We were early for the program, so I took a quick picture of the altar first. Brother was using his digital camera, so I used my cell phone for this one.
