The Fallen Dragonfly

Rosary Park

A picture from the past - this was taken May 2008, when I went to the Manaoag Church with my aunt, her boyfriend, and my brother. While we were walking along the Rosary Park, I spotted this dragonfly on the ground. It's a good thing I wasn't able to step on it. Instead, I just took a picture of it.

I wonder what the ants are doing? Are they eating the dragonfly or are they going to carry the dragonfly back to their colony?

Beautiful and a bit sad. I found a dead dragonfly last year, it must have just dropped dead. The ants may have been trying to dismember it to make it easier to carry.

The colours in the dragonfly are beautiful....but as another poster said, a bit sad.

I watched a bunch of ants with a dead butterfly last summer. they were actually carrying bits of it off to their nest. When I walked back that way later in the afternoon, there was hardly anything left..

It is a beautiful dragonfly, and, yes, it is sad, but that's the circle of life. You did a wonderful job of capturing the truth and wonder of nature.
