H = Hermit Crab

Hermit Crab

Hermit Crab

Again, I had a hard time thinking what to share for this week. First that came to mind was me and my sister's picture showing our back - I was supposed to use it as H for hair, but I still thought of other things. My brother has also joined ABC Wednesday, and we're both thinking what to share for this week. I told him that there's no reason what picture to share (other than it has to start with the letter of the week and it has to be your photo), and if we wanted we could use our own language to share some H photos.

I was arranging my Flickr photos when I spot these pictures. Oh yeah, Hermit crabs! Geez, thank heavens I now have something to share this week! Yey!

The pictures aren't that good because it was really hard to hold a hermit crab with one hand and take pictures of it using the other hand. The crab has a big claw and it really aches when you get pinched! I was able to take around 5 or 6 photos of this crab (was pinched more than that), but these two are my favorites.

I think I'd be afraid it'd nip me if I picked it up. I guess you know just how to do it, though. Good one for our H day. :D

I would have never thought of hermit crabs. Nice posting great shots. They make nice pets.

I like your ABC Wednesday post. I'm afraid if I were pinched, the hermit crab would go sailing through the air!

Perfect choice for the letter H on ABC Wednesday.
Too bad you had to suffer for it though.

I like the idea of picking a hermit crab up and like it better to learn that you set it free. LOL

My post for H (hair) is over at Canon Pixels

When my son was in grade school he got to bring home a hermit crab for Spring Break. After than he could talk of nothing else. He wanted a Hermit crab. Well for some reason we never got him Hermie and now he's 40 and still won't let us forget our promise.
Thanks for the...ouch...memory.
Parental failure!

We have had our hermit crab for three years now. It's never switched shells yet. Is that wierd? Great pictures : )! Have a happy day!

What we go through for THAT shot eh?

It was worth it though because they are cracking shots of a hermit crab.

He's pinching you because he's afraid he will fall.
I have 12 hermit crabs, and some of the smarter ones use the "threat of pinch" to get me to put them back in the aquarium. They take a part of my hand in the pincher grip, and sort of give it a little "I'm gearing up for a pinch" tweak, and so I take them back to the aquarium, as they have had enough. We worked out a communication system-erm-or at least they did. I am but a servant. :) I think it's a smart compromise. They win and I avoid the dreaded pinchfest.
