The northern part of the country has been known for garlic and onions, and when I went on a road trip with my aunt and her former high school friends around Northern Luzon, it wouldn't be complete if we didn't buy some. There were little arguments as to where it was best to buy the products, and in the end it was decided to stop by the kiosks along the highway in Pinili, Ilocos Norte.
I found the price way too expensive, so while my aunt and her friends were haggling with the vendor, I took pictures of the products. They bought garlic that time, but I went on with the tip brother gave me and asked the driver to stop at the market in Sinait, Ilocos Sur (next province) where I bought my garlic. I got the better deal, of course. =)

I hate chopping onions but I do enjoy them diced up over a plate of pasta. Glad to hear you got the better deal in the end.
I love fried onions.Especially over a good grilled steak.Or on a hamburger.

Onions can be very good similes. When I was about to go into hospital I used to see myself as an onion. The outer layer was quite brisk and cheerful, but if one peeled and peeled one got to that little white heart and it was quivering with terror!
I think that onions and garlic are some of God's greatest creations. The aroma of onions and garlic sauteing in a pan is one of the best aroma's there is.

My son-in-law is the superintendent of an agricultural experiment station, one of whose chief items of interest is optimum growing conditions for onions. I don't even have to bargain for the onions that he gives me. And I like them in almost every dish except dessert!
