I admit I really had a hard time thinking what picture to post for this theme, but I am happy that I was able to see this picture in our files. This picture was taken by the entrance of Fort Santiago when we (brother and I) went there together with our photo enthusiast friends for a get-together. Normally, places like this are venues for school field trips, hence lots of vendors by the gates trying to entice tourists (mostly kids) into buying their goods.
Seeing the stringed puppets makes me remember my elementary classmate, Joseph, who at that early in his life (we were in Grade Four), was able to create a toy like this on his own. His puppet - an ostrich - was made because according to him, he got so jealous of the rich kids who can buy these kinds of toys, so he made one for himself. I remember that incident vividly because I, too, tried to make one my own, but I am just so bad in sewing!
I forgot how much these ones cost. Maybe it's a good thing I didn't know, because if I found out the price, I might buy one for myself.
