Orange Santan Flowers

Today's Flowers

Santan

I shot these flowers by the entrance of the Bauang Church in Bauang, La Union. From the national highway, church goers still have quite a lot of steps to walk before entering the church itself, and on that pathway are these super beautiful flowers! As soon as I saw it, I didn't hesitate to take out my camera and just shoot the blooms!

Like what I said in our family blog, this flower brings back memories of my childhood when my playmates and I used to sip the sweet nectar from each flower. If you see a flower like this, just try it, pick a flower and pull this string-like something in the middle, and sip the water from it... it's sweet! =)

The flowers are beautiful...the color is so vibrant. Your story reminds me of how we used to suck on the honey suckle flowers to taste the sweet necter when I was a child as well. Stop in and say hello. I have been busy!

These are gorgeous! I love their bright color. I have never sipped the nectar of a flower, but would like to try it sometime. Beautiful photo!

So bright. Not at all like the ones I'm used to seeing here in New Jersey. Lovely.

Hi there, beautiful colors, beautiful flowers and a beautiful photo. That is interesting about sipping the nectar as a child. I have never had this experience and it sounds like a lovely memory from your childhood and that's what childhood is all about. Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving the nice comment.

Ixora
Hi Jen,

This is known as Ixora. Is Santan a flipino name?

I have the same experience as you, sucking in the sweet nectar. Childhood days, no worries.
