Red Zinnia

From GK Talamban (Cebu)

I read in the Ruby Tuesday site last week that it's about flowers, and since I will be posting ruby photos taken from my recent trip to Cebu and Negros Oriental, thought I'd post a flower shot.

This was taken from the garden by the entrance of the Gawad Kalinga Village in Talamban, Cebu City. Gawad Kalinga is just like Habitat for Humanity. Formally launched by the Couples for Christ (CFC) - a Catholic organization, it started in 1995 after a Youth Camp held by CFC Youth for Christ in Bagong Silang, Caloocan City. In 2002, the CFC Singles for Christ had their first Gawad Kalinga build in Dumaguete City (Negros Oriental) and since then the whole Couples for Christ Community and its sub-community have helped in building houses for the poor. Aside from the efforts of the members of the community, other people also help through donations.

I became a member of CFC Singles for Christ last November. February of this year, I traveled to Cebu City with my brother (who has been in SFC for 7 years now) to attend the SFC International Conference, and a day before the conference formally started, we (together with the other members from our chapter) visited the GK Village in Talamban. We weren't able to help with the build as they were on break at that time, but I did take home something - a shot of this flower.

What a good thing, lending out a helping hand to the less fortunate.
I'm afraid this kind of help will be needed more and more all over the world.
The flower is a creation of mere beauty, given us by Him who cares for all of us.

Those red flowers are beautiful, with the leaves radiating almost perfectly around the 'hub'. A delicate flower that is a pleasure to admire!

Nice "rubies". The petals spread out so evenly.
