L = Lapu Lapu

I have talked about Lapu-Lapu numerous times already, but for the people who just visited the site, I'd repeat some of the things I have spoken before.

Lapu-Lapu was the king of Mactan. In 1521, the Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan made his way to the Philippines through the island of Mactan in the province of Cebu. He wanted the people of Cebu to convert into Christianity, but Lapu-Lapu refused and it sparked a battle. Ferdinand Magellan and some of his men were killed in the battle (Battle of Mactan). Lapu-Lapu is regarded as the first Philippine hero.

This monument was located in the island of Mactan in Cebu. I was privileged to photograph it when I visited the place last February.

Rizal Park

This Lapu-Lapu monument can be seen in Rizal Park, Manila City. This was a gift from South Korea in 2005. This image was shot November of 2008, when my friend K and I alloted day 2 of our holiday to visit Rizal Park among other places in Manila City.
